I fell in love with The Keepthings, created by
, many years ago in its original ‘tiny book’ format on Instagram, and I keep reading — it’s FREE! Subscribe now! — for the magic of its premise: Show us the love of a person you’ve lost by telling the story of some thing they left behind. Each installment, delivered once weekly, is based on just one item: a pastry cutter, a cigarette lighter, a fishing lure. This constraint is breathtaking, every time.I hope you’ll join me in this readership of The Keepthings. I open each week’s tiny story already smiling, knowing how cherished both the lost loved one and the kept item are. I imagine the writer and the kept thing—beloved in their hand, in their home—wherever they are in the world and know that care lives there, too.
Also, stay tuned: I’m submitting a Keepthing of my own, about hollyhock seeds. ❤️
